The Georgia Tech Counseling Center offers a pre-doctoral internship for the first time beginning in 2007-2008. The internship program is designed to provide interns experience in providing direct services within a counseling center setting and among a culturally diverse campus population. Interns will provide individual, couples and group counseling to university students. They will also be provided with two hours of individual supervision per week, and two hours of group supervision per week. Interns will participate in weekly training seminars that include rotations in the treatment of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and in couples counseling and group counseling. Interns will also have the opportunity to co-facilitate outreach workshops with senior staff, and will be supported in developing their own outreach workshops. Interns will also have the opportunity to co-facilitate weekly groups. There is also an opportunity for doctoral and masters practicum students to gain valuable experience in a college counseling setting. The Center's senior staff are committed to providing supervision and clinical experience of the highest quality. The practicum program is designed to provide supervised work experience for students who may pursue a career in college counseling following graduation.
